Ishq junooN bhi hai sanjeedgi bhi hai
Yeh hawis bhi hai pakeezgi bhi hai
Shokhi bhi hai ishq-
Baanki adaaoN pe lutnay ka naam bhi hai
Rooh-e-irtqa-e-dil-o-dimagh bhi-
Zindagi ko samjhnay ka naam bhi hai
Ishq masroofiat bhi fursat bhi hai
Ishq qurbat bhi aur furqat bhi hai
Ishq rif_at bhi aur wus_at bhi hai
Aur ishq kabhi faqt chahat bhi hai
Yeh masoomiyat bhi rikhshandgi bhi hai
Bosa hai to kabhi bandgi bhi hai
ZamiN bhi hai aur aasmaN bhi hai
Magar ufaq ka ismay nishaN bhi hai
Kabhi bistar ki salwaton sa-
To kabhi mandir ki moortoN sa
Kabhi uryaanioN ka shaida
To kabhi Meera-o-Mariam ki soortoN sa
Ishq rog bhi magar mudawa bhi hai

Jab lehraayay kisi chehray maiN apnay ahsaaoN ki pehnaai
Maaini ishq kay tab jalwagar ho kay miltay haiN
JismoN ki dosti phir bus hawas ki bunyaad nahiN
Muhabbat ka kudrati sabub ho kay milti hai

Woh jo kehtay haiN ki jazbaat kisi usool ka haamil nahiN
Khumaar-e-dast-junooN tak say bus wabasta haiN
Un past roohoN say jo na hui tai ishq ki bulaNdiaN
Hawas-o-benoor parstish ko ishq ka paikar diya

Aur sadioN say yahi unka beemaar paimaanaa
Ishq bun kay reh gaya bus ik harf-e-mujrmanaa
Utho tehzeeb-e-nau kay humraaho
Ishq ko phir say khoya maayni lauta do
Aur duniya ko yeh samjha do
